Japanese streetwear legend Hiroshi Fujiwara (@fujiwarahiroshi) just shared a potential Fragment Design x Nike Phoenix Waffle on Instagram, opening the floodgates for speculation on the duo’s next co-signed effort. It should be noted; Fujiwara has been known to share unreleased sneaker samples in the past, so this image alone doesn’t necessarily constitute an official release announcement.
nike zoom crusader womens shoes is to release, however, it would marry an iconic Nike collaborator with an emerging, under-the-radar silhouette that just made its debut last spring. Given Nike’s shrewdness in letting big names spur the rise of new models, a continuation of Fragment x Nike Waffle footwear through the Phoenix wouldn’t be all too surprising.
While we’re limited to a single heel shot at the time of this writing, the design looks to follow the precedent of past Fragment x Nike efforts with blue accents set against a white base. Debossed “FRGMT” heel text makes the pair’s significance evident, but it appears we’ll have to wait for a more inclusive heel to toe look.
At the very least, this development signals that Nike may have big plans centered around the Phoenix Waffle in the near future. The shoes haven’t dunk much buzz yet, but a Fragment Design stamp can change that in a big way.
