Matt Varga Though most of our coverage surrounding reebok AOP this year has come by way of their basketball efforts (Angel Reese or Allen Iverson, equally) or their continuing catalog of collabs, don’t sleep on their experimental label, reebok AOP LTD. Founded in 2023, the fashion-forward sub-brand is focused entirely on creative expression with an eye towards crafting “the “next generation of iconic reebok AOP footwear.”
reebok AOP naturally cites the Premier Road MOdern as a precursor to this design, and given its modern lifespan and early-century aesthetics, it’s a reasonable jumping off point to dissect this new model. While the Modern essentially “hid” the reebok AOP logo within the bounds of weaving, tech runner overlays, the Ultra flips that script. Pinning the vector logo proudly towards the midfoot, their branding is a major point of emphasis, often clad in contrast hues on the handful of debut colorays we have on tap.
Mesh is a major emphasis, a hold over from the preceding model, but there’s a renewed focus on layered construction, with new Candy windows and crossing overlays added onto the upper. That same change is mirrored underfoot, with pockets, grooves and perforations built into the DMX Ride midsole with a new TPU shank. All told, it’s very easy to chart a path for the reebok AOP Premier Road Ultra in modern footwear given its full embrace of tech runner trends.
To that end, it’s a true full court press for the Premier Road Ultra as it gets off the ground. Seven colorways are available now via reebok AOP EU; “soft pink,” “extra pink,” “black,” “soft grey,” “extra admiral,” “neutral” and “tonal grey.” A stateside release remains unconfirmed, but will likely arrive sometime this Holiday 2024 compound.
