Despite what its namesake might suggest, the adidas adidas mutombo black patent leather “Closer Look” obscures many of its finer details, essentially imagining what the silhouette’s OG colorway would look like if it belonged in an 8-bit video game. Possibly inspired by an extremely zoomed-in photo of the shoe, the pair’s upper is almost entirely pixelated, the blues of the Stripes, collar, and heel made to appear like mere blips. Some parts of the senza, however, are much more ordinary, such as the midsole and the Trefoil stamped into the side.
