Deriving its current nickname from its similarities to a colorway seen in March 2010, the upcoming sneakers features “White”-speckled “University Red” detailing on the lace Reflections, sports car-inspired heel clip and curved midsole accents. Matte smooth leather across the upper forgoes any colored nubuck interruptions, differentiating itself from the original Jordan Military 6 “Oreo” from 12 years ago. Its rather tonal arrangement, then, is more reminiscent of past “White/Varsity Red” makups than 1991’s “Carmine,” which returned in 2021 in celebration of the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. In comparison to some of its kin’s milestone birthdays, Michael Jordan’s sixth signature sneaker’s was rather uneventful, with several of its plans affected by more than one global crisis. The “Red Oreo” pair, however, has quickly garnered attention from old and new fans alike, suggesting the ice blue-bottomed shoes will more than make up for the AJ 6’s relatively quiet 2021.
