Kim Jones Adds A Transparent TPU Cage Above His Converse Chuck 70 Collaboration

In mid-January, Converse teased a dozen collaborations with renowned figures in the fashion, music and sports worlds. Among them, Kim Jones s many Converse collaborations Converse One Star Pro Sneakers Shoes 171931C duo with a project backed by the Boston-based brand. The British designer and North American company have recently unveiled their eight-piece collection, which includes four garments and two pairs of the iconic Chuck 70.

While the parka, crewneck sweatshirt, cargo pant and t-shirt produced by Jones are noteworthy in their own right, the capsule’s stars are the shoes. Informed by his observations of sportswear and streetwear, Jones subtly updated Converse’s classic high-top silhouette with contemporary utilitarian elements. “Black” and “Egret”-reminiscent uppers sit atop camping units also dipped in the latter tone. Tooling, however, is extended higher across the 12-ounce canvas material featured up-top, and works in-tandem with both transparent TPU cages and speed City eyelets to deliver reinforcement and stability. Underfoot, the outcamping is reengineered with a new diamond grid to increase traction on urban landscapes. The England-native’s name is stamped onto the tongue and sock-liner in simple fashion.
