Sotheby’s entrance into sneaker culture quite a bit ago was certainly eye opening — their stock of notable footwear selling at high, record breaking numbers upon the event’s end. And now, with a likely newfound interest in the market, the institution is set to auction off what is likely to have Jordan Brand collectors reaching fast for their wallets. Rare and near mythic in attainability, the pair at hand is none other than a game-worn Air Jordan 1 signed by MJ himself. Bearing the iconic Chicago colorway, the custom-made player sample boasts a size pairing of 13 and 13.5 as well as shorter stature as the athlete often wore. Both the leathers and tooling are very obviously well-maintained as yellowing is kept to a minimal and the materials reveal very little creasing. If you’re looking to grab a piece of history, the auction is now open at Sothebys.com and will close on May 17th. Sotheby’s estimates the pair to sell for $100,000 to $150,000 USD.
