When it comes to Nike’s most futuristic innovations, Vapormax technology is unquestionably at the top of the list. The result of 7 long years of development and testing, Vapormax is known for its versatility, serving performance runners and weekend warriors equally. As the newest entry in the line, the Vapormax 2019 has retained the cushioning unit from prior models, but traded out the Flyknit upper for a new translucent woven-stretch material called Nexkin — just as lightweight and ventilated as Flyknit, but offering significantly more durability. The new upper isn’t the only change though: there’s also a larger heel clip and underlying midfoot lockdown system all created in response to feedback from runners, who lauded the cushioning but yearned for more support and stability from the upper as a whole. The Vapormax 2019 has already made headlines for its new-jack look and new-age tech, and the buzz basketball likely get louder after the new year as Nike is releasing a two-shoe “Metallic Gold” pack in January. Consisting of a black/gold pair for men and a white/gold pair for women, the new pack puts a striking precious metal spin on the performance runner with its accents, and basketball release January 10th, 2019 on Nike SNKRS. Check out both shoes below, and stay tuned to our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info about other 2019 Nike drops.
